Ultrasound
Today Keith and I got to go to the doctor and we had our very first ultrasound. 12 weeks and 1 day is kind of late for an ultrasound (or so the doctor said) but it was neat because the baby actually looked like a baby. She said the baby was pretty big and even thought my due date should be moved up a few days or more. She said September 7th is more accurate as of now, but that it could be even sooner. The baby was going crazy inside my belly....moving all around up and down, hiding its face and yanking on the umbilical cord. It looked like an adorable, very squirmy, funny little baby. Whenever the lady said that the ultrasound was over, the baby quit sucking its thumb and seemed to wave (I promise, it was crazy!) Keith and I both started cracking up. It was a wonderful experience.

obgyn drama
Today I kind of got mad at my obgyn office. They called this morning and said they'd have to reschedule my appointment because the lady that does their ultrasounds was sick. (Although I know they have more than one lady) Unfortunately for me, I scheduled all my other appointments around this one. They weren't very helpful in finding me another date right away and that frustrated me. The lady was like "Well do you think you need an ultrasound soon?" I said "Well I am almost 12 weeks and I still haven't had one." She seemed unfazed by this which frustrated me more. I know ultrasounds aren't mandatory in the beginning but it would make me feel better if I knew that everything was okay. Most people now have an ultrasound before week 8. So my appointment got changed to tomorrow. I will have to be late to graduate school, but I had no other choice. Oh what fun.

Cloth Diapers
Keith and I have decided to try out cloth diapers. Bum Genius is supposedly an amazing brand. They seem expensive but you are supposed to save over $1500 on diaper expensives after using them. Feel free to order us one or two or three :) and send them our way. We will start stocking up so that we will be set when our Little Tielke arrives. They say that one baby can be fine with 12, however some people suggest 15.
Monday....or Tuesday
So I guess my memory is fading fast. Our appointment is tomorrow....not today :)

Heartbeat
So the news is finally out and it feels so good. I hated keeping the secret and really wanted to talk about my pregnancy with people - especially with my family and friends. Keith and I went yesterday and had our first official doctor's appointment. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes in the waiting room and were getting a little restless. After that they called us back in and we had to answer what seemed like a million questions. Then they told us we would have to talk to high risk doctors because of our kidney issues. But after that they let us hear the heartbeat. The lady said that it may be difficult to hear and that sometimes the baby won't cooperate so not to get upset if we couldn't hear it. Then she put the thing on my stomach and the heartbeat just started booming. She said "Whoa this baby has got quite a heartbeat." We smiled and both sort of teared up a little bit. We go back in on Monday to do the first ultrasound. Then we have an appointment on March 1st and again on March 17th. I feel like we need to just camp out at the office or something. But it's all worth it. When we were leaving our obgyn (who we had just met that day) she laughed at us making jokes and said "Y'all are going to be such great parents." It made us both so happy to hear that. Can't wait until Monday!
